Is it necessary to have a degree to get a job in animation? or is your portfolio enough in case you learn it all yourself?
I have been learning After Effects, 3ds max and maya through online tutorials. So if i want to get a job, is it necessary that i should have done some course or a portfolio showing my works will do the trick..?

there is surely value of the skill whether learnt by self or institute. however, self-learning requires very high commitment and will power, so for most people institute may be better. if you have a good portfolio, animation studios wont ignore you. portfolio(Demo reel) and skill set is enough. But normally a good reference is always a + point. Normally if you learn it from an institute , then you get the placement assistance and get a better and sooner response to your resume.
