To get a call, you don't need experience. Calls at IIMs are generally given on the basis of CAT percentile and scores in 10, 12 and graduation. IIM-C focusses more on your score in CAT. No, it is not at all compulsory to have job experience to get an interview call from IIMC, but having a work experience gives you some brownie points while considering for admission. Currently, 23% of the students don't have any work experience.

For IIM job experience counts lot. It's not necessary and compulsion but yes the panelist are impressed if its in your CV that I have worked under this company for particular years. This will make them believe that yes you can handle stress with academics and personal things.
