    Hi Ravi,
    It solely depends on one's discretion whether one wants to join a coaching institute for CAT preparation or not. However, here are a few advantages of joining an MBA entrance tutorial at a good coaching institute:
    - Joining a good MBA coaching institute give you an opportunity to interact with learned and experienced faculty members. It becomes easier to learn a concept when you hear it from someone.

    If you are preparing for the first time then its always better to join a test prep centre . some of the advantages are
    1. good prep material
    2. schedule to prepare
    3. study group
    4. a financial commitment also is a good motivator ;-)

    I think Self study is the best tool.
    I would recommend that you try out the study material from IMS / TIME / Career Launcher as your first resource.
