Is it necessary to join coaching as I want to give CAT 2017? If not, can you provide some details of the books for the same?
If it is necessary then tell about the coaching centers in Patna as I reside there.

The coaching is not mandatory to crack CAT exam, but it will definitely help you to be on the right track. You can consider TIME for coaching and Arun Sharma's book are quite popular.
For strengthening GK, you should read newspapers regularly. For improving your vocabulary, you can go through the

If you want to join any coaching class, then it's very good option. It will help you to enhance your interpersonal skills and communication skills. If you want to do self-study, then you can choose the books like 5th Edition (Paperback) by Arun Sharma, Publisher: Tata McGraw Hill 2012,
