Is it necessary to join coaching for NIFT or NID?

It's not necessary but you have to work hard and study on your own. Here are a few tips- CAT is the most important part of the question paper. Start sketching and develop your own style of sketching and coloring. I cannot stress this enough. Good drawing skills are very important. How you present/draw your ideas is just as important as the idea itself.Keep reading the newspaper (especially around November-December) it'll help you in GK part of GAT and help you generate better ideas. Most questions in CAT are related to current scenarios. For example- Make in India was started in late 2014 and in the 2015 entrances hey had asked the students to make a mascot and a poster to promote the same. Based on the happenings and big stories in the media, plan and create small sketches. This was you'll save time on thinking during the actual exams. Go through various artists on social medias, movies, art galleries etc to find inspiration. Go through question papers from the previous years and see what kind of questions they ask. Start solving these question papers in the given time and work on pacing yourself For that, you can pick up any reference book. maths, logic and English are mostly what you've learned in school but it's better to revise. Keep solving the previous question papers so you can get in to the habit of thinking along those lines. Check out other artist's work on Instagram, Pinterest, behance, etc. so that you can improve your drawing skill and understand what the rest of the world is doing.

It is not necessary to take up coaching for designing exam. It’s totally depends on your interest and hard work in designing. Practice more and more to solve the aptitude because the aptitude paper of NIFT is just above the normal. Go through the magazine of Bollywood by which you able to know that which actor is using which particular brand. It will definitely help you because sometimes such type of question comes in designing exam. Watch TV to know the brand ambassador of different brands. Your designing skills should be good because in NIFT exam there is a separate paper of designing which contains five questions and you have to complete it in three hours only. For the practice of exam go through this book - NIFT entrance exam. It covers all the syllabus of designing exam and some previous year question papers For the practice of aptitude go through this book - R.S. Aggarwal of aptitude. It will help you to increase your confidence of solving aptitude. It’s my personal experience that I am sharing with you.
