Well, If you want to get into a good college of high repute, you need to write the entrance. It has two reasons:
College/university comes to know about your intellect and aptitude towards the programme. You yourself get to know about your own aptitude for particular programme. So you SEE it works both ways. Coming to mandatory part :
Most of the top universities/colleges like IITs, BITs, VIT, PEC, Thapar and LPU take students o the basis of their entrance exams. Some of the prominent exams are JEE Mains and Advanced, BITSAT VITEE and LPU NEST. While all of these act as entrance examination, LPU NEST acts as a Scholarship Exam too. -

Here I am sharing the eligibility criteria of this programme at Lovely professional University I. e.
