    Hi,
It is not necessary to write CAT to get an admission into MBA colleges.
    - CAT is difficult and you can give MAT which is easy as compared to CAT and has good placements.
    - Requires a lot of patience, time and energy. MAT, SNAP and IBSAT are exams which are easier and require less patience, time and energy as compared to CAT.
    - IIMs are not the end of the world.
    - There is a lack of required courses at IIMs.
    - CAT is not the only option.
Till a few years back, CAT was the only exam that MBA aspirants aimed at but with so many other management exams coming into light, CAT might just be losing its sheen amongst such aspirants.

There are other exams as well and some are conducted by MBA institutes. But, CAT score is accepted by almost all the colleges. Hence, it is beneficial to write CAT exam with full preparation.

To appear for CAT exam is not necessary. Though, all the IIMs and some of the top non-IIMs do consider its score. Anyways, there are exams like SNAP, NMAT, XAT, TISSNET, IIFT, etc. which are institute specific. Some of them are relatively easier than CAT as well.
