Is it needed to prepare for GATE mechanical to get admission in M.Tech in Industrial safety or can I apply with any stream of GATE?

Asked about NIT Trichy - National Institute of Technology - M.Tech. in Industrial Safety Engineering

I have a B.Tech in safety and fire engineering and unfortunately, there is no GATE exam based on it. I have two options - GATE petroleum and GATE mechanical which cover like 20 % of my branch of study.
