Yes, it's possible, but that's not so easy. You need to put a lot of efforts and in the right way.
You need to know the difficulty and the pattern of questions that are asked in JEE Mains exam and prepare accordingly.
The coaching centres are dedicated towards the preparation strategy for clearing JEE Mains and so they could guide you better. You can easily clear JEE Mains without coaching if you work hard, but for JEE Advanced, you may need guidance.
But it is your wish to go for coaching or for self-study.
