Is it possible to get admission in Philosophy if I am not from the arts stream? What is the overall eligibility criteria for admissions?

Eligibility criiteria and admission procedure in philosophy: For admission in the UG degree programmes or the Diploma programmes in the field of philosophy, the aspirant should have attained 12th standard with minimum 50% marks in any stream. The eligibility to take the admission in the Master degree programme in philosophy is holding a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy in any stream. To pursue a philosophy career, you have to complete your Bachelors and Master’s degree in philosophy. Some of the universities conduct the entrance examination to let the admission in UG degree programme. The entrance exam is based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Yes, you can definitely take admission in philosophy if you are not from arts stream. In fact, you can take admission in any humanities subject even if you didn't have arts in 12th. To get admission in philosophy a candidate must have cleared 12th standard from a recognised board and must have scored at least 50% marks. A philosophy graduate can become consultant, student counselor, public service, journalist researcher, law, diplomacy, insurance, etc.

It is easy to get admission in this course for the students who have scored more than 50% marks overall in 12th and 45% for SC/ST category. There is no age limit to for this course. Some colleges conduct their own entrance exam for this course like BHU, JNU, Tezpur University, etc. Many colleges give admission according to the marks of the qualifying exam. They can get jobs after completing this course in PR agencies, marketing, law and charities.
