Yes you can start your career in Cricket.
However, 17 years of age is slightly late to be a part of the India Cricket Team.
There are no formal requirements to become a professional sportsperson. You must show a high level of expertise and skill in your chosen sport. Most sportspeople begin playing in their chosen sport at a young age, developing their skills and abilities through years of experience, training and playing.
Remember the following:
-Practice all the time
-Be talented
-Play junior reps cricket and then look for a county contract when your 18.

Yes you can start your career but its late to enter into cricket at this stage. But if you have a zeal to perform you have to concentrate on it well and keep focus on that. So that we can see you in Indian cricket team very early
