    Yes, it is possible. Some IITs offer direct admission on basis of GATE exam. Some shortlist candidates on basis of GATE exam and call for interview, then offer admission. Some IITs have provision for non-GATE qualified candidates to appear in entrance exam conducted by them. They shortlist the qualified candidates and call them for interview, then they offer them admission.
