Is it true,IIM-A has more focus on academics whereas IIM-C focus on practical learning?

    IIM-A is academically intensive in first year while lesser intensive in second year. IIM -C is balanced out in two years. Both C and A follow case based study.

    It is not true according to the best of my knowledge.
    All IIMs are heavily focused on academics. Just the distribution of workload over the time frame varies.
    IIM-Ahmadabad is said to be academically intensive in the sense that the schedule is pretty hectic. In IIM-A, there is lots of weightage give to stuff done in class. This includes all the surprise quizzes which happen on a regular basis and the case studies and presentation. So, you have to prepare properly before every class. On the other hand, in IIM-Calcutta, more weigthage is given to the mid semester and the end semester and as a result, the daily life is a bit chilled out a

    No according to me, it is not true. I think both IIM A and IIM C both have a different way of teaching which includes both theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge.
    An MBA means a lot of hard work, classes, case studies, group studies, presentations, surprise quizzes and that is all done by the IIMs.
    Honestly speaking, I think it should be driven by individual preferences, rather than any ranking or common perception. Both the IIMs are equally good in terms of academics, infrastructure, and placements but differ in terms of culture and rigor.
