Is it true that biotech does not have good career options in India?

Biotechnology is a growing field and extensive researches are taking place. In a country like India, it is bound to have a great future. Its applications are made in fields like Medicine and Agriculture and they are bound to be significant.

Hello Vibhor, The career opportunities in biotech are average in India. You cannot compare it with that in the IT sector, both in terms of money and jobs. But still there are alot of jobs in this sector in private as well as public sectors. For private sectors, you can have Biocon, Jubilant, Serum India and many pharmaceutical companies associated in the field. These companies work in R&D section as well as manufacturing and sales sector. Hence you have a good choice to opt to. Moreover, the scenario of Biotech in India is in a development phase due to which a person with a new innovation or idea could come up to establish its own company. For public sector, you have CSIR, ICAR, DRDO (this one for really brilliant minded students) labs and many other labs like NIH or those established in renowned institutes like BHU, which work only in R&D department. But sadly they are not efficiently working due to finance troubles with a few exceptions. You could also opt for GATE or JRF NET exams for further studies or research work. You could also opt to teaching in schools and colleges with a proper degree and exam qualification. So, overall there is a good scene of research in India. All the best.
