Dear Tarun, it is a misconception that graduates from IIFM are placed only in rural areas. I am happy to inform you that the current relieving batch of IIFM 2016-18 got placed in all sectors such as banking and microfinance, wildlife sector, consultancies, NGO's, Government agencies, paper industries and many other institutes. Coming to your question, the answer would be 'no'.
Most of the companies that recruit from IIFM offer jobs in cities. Some NGOs and reputed development sector companies do recruit students to work in rural setting (where their projects are running) but that may not mean you have to live in rural areas only.
