Is it wise to give a year drop after class 12th boards for JEE preparation?

It depends upon your rank in your first attempt. If you really want to go for engineering, then work very hard. Get enrolled in some classroom courses. Don't just sit and do self-study because you will absolutely get distracted, no matter how good you are at studies or focusing on your studies.

It depends on your marks. If your score was too low, then you should not take drop. It would be very difficult for you to reach that level. Yes, definitely. But at the same time, you must keep in mind the importance of the drop. Work hard every day for at least 6 hours daily. Have a planned study schedule and don't forget to give the test series conducted by various institutes when you feel you have completed your portion. Stay true
