    I personally don't recommend petroleum engineering as your Bachelor's degree. Always pursue your Bachelor's degree in core sector, so that you can have a strong backup. Moreover, as this sector is cyclic in nature, it does't assure you jobs in odd times. Petroleum engineering very specialised and streamlined course. It is better to choose such courses at Master's level. If you pursue your degree in mechanical, chemical, civil or any other core branch, the basic fundamentals will remain same.
