    Yes it is, as VIT is itself a name in the mechanical engineering as this is the only college that offers 100% quality placements for this branches' students.

    Yes, mechanical engineering is one of the top branch in VIT, Vellore after CS/IT. The average package is Rs 4-5 lakhs per annum with the highest package upto Rs 12 lakhs per annum. It is important to weigh the tradeoffs and if your son can get computer science or information technology, he should prefer these branches over mechanical engineering due to better placement prospects.

    VIT is one of the finest private engineering college in India, it is carrying legacy for many years due to research oriented studies, very wide exposure and good placements. In terms of ranking also VIT secured 13th position in latest nerf ranking surpassing many IIT's and NIT's.
