Is it worth pursuing a distance/correspondence arts program? Does that take away from the market value of this degree?

    Distance or Correspondence degrees have been gaining lot of traction nowadays, but major missing with this mode of learning is practical exposure and live face to face as well as peer learning, major group participating activities which evolves values like Team Building Entrepreneurship and Leadership.
    In my opinion, distance degrees are only recommended if you have suitable work experience of more than 10 plus years and you don't have time to quit your job or simultaneously pursue any degree.

    Hi,
    If you can cope up with learning on your own and simultaneously have a job then correspondence is worthwhile.
    If you are also planning to pursue your PG through distance education then you can take UG via the same mode.
    The advantage of correspondence course is that you can gain work experience while gaining book knowledge. Combined they have a higher value and use in life.
    Beware, big MNCs prefer employees who are from regular schooling and not distance schooling for the simple fact that regular schooling makes one dull and non-creative as well as a willfully surrendering slave. Also they are easily replaceable hence cost effective.

    I will not recommend you for a distance/correspondence program for arts & humanities until and unless you have a solid career path.
    (1) Why not a correspondence course?
    In today's era, big giant companies (eg, Accenture, Oracle, TCS, Infosys) do generally avoid those people who have done a distance course. Theoretically and legally, regular and distance degree hold the same value. People usually face problems in the private sector because of bias. So I will say that if you can get into a regular college, by all means, go for it. However, as far as govt. exam is concerned, regular and distance degrees are same.
