Is it worth pursuing B.Sc IT along with B.Com? What additional benefits will I get?

This is a very rare combination of courses. There are a lot of factors that can be considered when you make this decision: - Firstly there is no similarity in the subjects and sectors that are taught in the two courses. B.Sc IT is course that will cater to the Information technology domain whereas B.Com will open ventures in the field of commerce. Pursuing both courses will get you to study very different topics, which could prove to be very difficult to manage -Placements in the two domains will lie in very different positions that may not have any correlation. As the nature of the work and domain knowledge that you would be required to have will be very different -Higher studies again in the two domains will be different as after B.Sc IT, technical advancement will be a wise choice whereas after B.com MBA/M.com would be an ideal choice. So, as a suggestion, one should be clear on the thoughts of what domain you want to join as a career, as pursuing two courses that are not interrelated may complicate things at time of career planning.

On January 19 2016, UGC said that its consultations regarding allowing students to pursue two degrees simultaneously, have not received a positive response so far. Therefore, legally, you cannot pursue B.Sc. IT and B.Com simultaneously from same university or different universities. B.Com and B.Sc. IT degree are not from same or similar field and both courses are designed for meeting different needs of enterprises. In case with commerce degree you want to join IT industry it will be better to do MBA IT or MCA after B.Com.

As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines to Indian universities students should not be allowed to undertake two regular degrees at the same time. On January 19 2016, UGC said that its consultations regarding allowing students to pursue two degrees simultaneously, have not received a positive response so far. Therefore, legally, you cannot pursue B.Sc IT and B.Com simultaneously from same university or different universities. B.Com and B.Sc IT degree are not from same or similar field and both courses are designed for meeting different needs of enterprises. In case with commerce degree you want to join IT industry it will be better to do MBA IT or MCA after B.Com. You can also option for B.Sc IT and MBA to fulfill your career goal of techno- managerial roles in IT or ITES industry. Both path will help you prepare for Pre-Sales support, Account Management and Business Analysis in IT/ ITES industry.

Hello, A few job types available for students of B.Sc IT are: Application Programmer Computer Information Specialist Computer Support Specialist Database Administrator Enterprise Information Officer Graphic Designer Hardware and Network Expert Information Architect Information Security Coordinator Information Systems Manager Information Technologist Legal Information Specialist Maintenance Technician Online Editor Quality Analyst Strategic Information Planner System Administrator System Analyst System Designer Trainer Web Designer On completion of B.Com, one could get job opportunities as: Accountant Tax Consultant Human ResourceBanker BPO/KPO Auditor Stock Broker Lecturer Export - Import Manager Finance Consultant Insurance Consultant Chartered Accountant Company Secretary Event Manager Travel Agent Government Jobs Lawyer Market Researcher Entrepreneur Hotel Management Economist Administrative Job etc However, pursuing B.Sc and B.Com together is a bizarre combination. Both are entirely different domains and pursuing both simultaneously could be a very challenging task. Further, with the current market conditions, the job opportunities with B.Com or B.Sc are bleak and would require you to pursue Masters degree as well. So, I would suggest you to identify your region of Interest and choose your domain accordingly. Pursuing both of them together doesn't seem quite beneficial as once you option for higher education, managing both the domains would lead to enormous workload and ultimately you will have to pick one domain.
