Is it worth taking admission for engineering without giving JEE?

I would say, no. You won't get admission in IIT NIT IIIT and other good colleges without scoring good marks in JEE. Though there are some private colleges, but JEE is so far the best. BITS Pilani is an exception. You can also try BITSAT.
