Is it worth the investment to pursue MBA from the tier-2 B-Schools in India?
-
You can learn basic knowledge from everything. You can either learn HR, marketing or finance. Instead of just taking up a certain stream right from the first semester itself and basically job opportunities are equivalent for everyone. Be it general MBA or normal MBA there are many colleges available for MBA. For e. g. PUMBA, Pune. Its cutoff is above 98 %ile and is generally considered to be the most sought after institute after JBIMS, Mumbai and Symbosis. It has the best placement record in terms of marketing and finance. For HR specialisation we have SCMHRD, Hinjewadi.

7 years agoI think you have to look best college in terms of return on investment (ROI). Many tier 2 colleges have very high fees and you will get nothing on the name of placement. Also, there exist many -schools which have good value of ROI.
Tier one colleges are limited, so it's not possible for all the students to get admission there. They conducts very tough entrance examination to admit Students .If you can't clear entrance examination like CAT and still want to pursue MBA then tier 2 colleges having good value of ROI and exposure will be a good choice.
You should visit the campus before taking admission there and have some talks with the curr...more -

Yes,
It is worth. Wherever you choose to study, success in career depends only on your hard work and dedication. The career prospects for a student depends on the competency of the student, and the student's own work ethic. Opportunities are not within the type of degree, or Institute, as it is within the person who has the degree. Opportunities are always there. It is up to you to take advantage of them through commitment, positive attitude, and the ability to think through long-term benefits. Utmost important and critical issue is your ability to create a vision for yourself. You may have come across many people who worked really hard...more -
In comparison to pursuing MBA in tier colleges, it is not worth to pursue MBA in tier 2 colleges. Below mentioned are the reasons:
High Student Intake: While Tier-2 and Tier-3 MBA colleges have limited seats available on admission, the intake is still higher than Tier-1 colleges. This is because of the less number of Tier-1 colleges as well as the less number of seats available in those colleges. Tier-1 colleges are simply unable to meet the needs of an increasing number of MBA aspirants in India. Even meritorious students do not get admission sometimes. Thus, they turn towards Tier-2/3 colleges that have a comparatively higher intake a...more -

Tier 1 colleges are few, so limited number of seats are there and in a country where the population is 1.3 billion you cannot expect every aspiring student to get into IIMS, IIFT and FMS. You should be good to get into these colleges.
Tier 2 colleges can also produce good candidates with excellent problem solving minds, innovative ideas and much more. So it's skillset that matters. If you can develop right kind of attitude and skills during the 2 years' of MBA you can get rewards and good placement from any college.
So it's not that tier 2 B-school students are not good as compared to Tier 1 because one exam can't determine who is bette...more -
Hello,
Tier 2 B-schools are better colleges for MBA when compared to several other colleges in India. So, one can opt for it, if they don't get the top ranking ones. These colleges also demand a good percentile for admission.
The tier 2 colleges include TA PAI management institute, IIM Trichy, IIT Madras, IIM Rohtak, Great Lakes Institute of Management, LIBA, BITS Pilani, IIT Roorkee, etc. These are also one among the top colleges for MBA so that it is worth the investment.
Though they are not equal to that of Tier-1, you may get a good amount of exposure and knowledge. You also need to put more efforts to get placed with a good package....more -
See, this question's answer can vary person to person. It's about the individual not entirely dependent upon the college or the course.
