    Bachelor Degree in mass comm. From distance learning is offered by numberless institutions and universities all over India and even abroad. There are online certifications as well. We need to give it a balanced view rather than simply rejecting one or approving.
    Distance education is meant to substitute the absence of regular education of any Degree when the learner is, for all valid reasons, unable to pursue regular studies. Secondly, distance education is a better option when one already has skills to work with along with some experience as well.

    Mass communications involves using the many forms of mass media to communicate with the public. The various branches of mass communications include journalism, public relations and advertising. The course revolves around imparting both theoretical as well as practical knowledge. Mass communication can't be confined to just cramming and writing exams, it is much more than that. One needs to understand the in-depth culture of mass media industry and it can only be done if you expose yourself to it. This course is implementing and experiencing alongside reading textbooks.     Mass communication is a course which requires practical hands-on experience along with theoretical classes. For instance, theoretical knowledge about how to do reporting and specific tips for it can be mugged up from textbooks and written in the answer sheets for an exam but the skills come handy only when practical experience is gained in the field. Same goes for camera handling and video editing - which one cannot learn unless they have in-depth knowledge about the equipment they have to use. Hence, a distance learning in this course will not help the candidate who means to pursue a career in mass media.
