Is it worth to pursue a CIA + SAP from distance learning in India and why?

Hi, CIA+SAP from distance learning is just as good or bad as pursuing any other practical course in India. You lack to learn the practical aspect of the course. CIA is very specific to internal auditing. As for career growth, it's good to have if you are focused on internal auditing jobs, but pales in comparison to the broader CMA and is nowhere near what a CPA license will do for your career. CIA is globally recognized. So, you have the international market open for you which simply means a fair share of opportunities. Internal auditors pay varies according to their post. CIA comes into play in speeding your promotion. In many companies they expect you to be a CIA holder for top level positions. And, CIA+SAP is definitely a good option for a long lasting and fulfilling career. As an IT fresher, ABAP (Technical module) is the best bet. Do not waste your time any further thinking about the other module (HANA, FICO), as they are not recommended for IT freshers. I am sure you must have worked somewhere in the last two years. If you have some functional domain experience, you could look at a SAP functional module. All the best.

It does not really matter whether you have passed graduation through distance as long as you have good skills in SAP. That is what your employers' or clients' will be interested in. Therefore, please do not worry much about your distance education. If you have 9 good years of ERP experience, you should be in a position to utilize it in a better way. There are a number of opportunities in FICO. You could even enhance your knowledge by learning FSCM and BPC. If you really want to make a career in internal audit, then I would suggest you to go for CISA/CRM along with your CIA to strengthen your profile on IS risk management. Through this, your area of expertise would attract scopes in IT field also. With many MNC and IT companies in India, job prospects for this course is enormous. Any MNC, which would want to employ a CIA in their SOX team or Risk management team would always welcome you. But, I would still suggest you to do this, as an additional course to your professional degree like, CA/CWA/CS. You will not be getting much scope if you only have CIA certificate. And regarding SAP, SAP certification does not guarantee good placement. It is only an additional values that is added in your resume. Having an SAP certification in a topic can be a door opener or conversation started, but it does not guarantee anything.
