The college was established in 2000 and is declared Autonomous by the University Grants Commission in 2011. JIS College of Engineering is ranked as the 12th best private engineering institute in India by Times Engineering Institute Rankings 2022. The college has also been ranked as the 5th best private engineering institution in the Eastern Region in 2020 by India TODAY FCCI Higher Education Excellence Awards. JIS College of Engineering is also NIRF ranked engineering institution 2022.
