Yes journalism can be a government job if you work with government organizations such as the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Lok Sabha TV, Rajya Sabha TV, or Doordarshan on their direct payroll. Along with these, working as a Public Relations representative or Media in-charge for any of the central Ministries, or PSUs also comes under the government job as a journalist.
