Is living in a hostel compulsory at GL Bajaj Institute of Management?

There is no such mandate, in fact seats in hostal fill very fast for the various of reasons like as of you talk about the matter of convenience and sports facilities which you would not get outside and if you get, that would be expensive but still you won't get the environment that the college provides.
