Is Lovely Professional University (LPU) a good choice for B.Sc. Hons agriculture?

Being a student of LPU, I think I can provide you with an honest opinion. Though I'm not pursuing my B.Sc. In agriculture, I do have my friends who are pursuing the same. LPU School of Agriculture is among Punjab and India's Best Agriculture colleges. LPU Becomes the First Private University to be Granted ICAR Accreditation By the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. It lays thrust on carrying out research in agricultural and allied fields. The university has well-equipped laboratories, library, lecture rooms and excellent farm facility to conduct agricultural experiments. LPU students got top packages from leading Agriculture companies. Students of School of Agriculture are placed in Dhanuka, HDFC Bank, Reliance retail, Syngenta, Bio SEED Nestle, Smur Agro, VLCC, Virbac, Amazon, Sanra organics and many more. Students are prepared at academics level to achieve higher placements, some steps are taken as follows: 1. Experiential Learning Activities The future of agriculture lies with a faith born of deeds. Students are engaged in evergreen agriculture, keeping in view the RAWE programme to build interpersonal skills. 2. I won't say it's the best college when compared to other government universities. If you are able to crack the government universities go with it. LPU is the first private University in India that is ICAR accredited by ICAR. There are some private colleges in Maharashtra also which you can admission through the payment as far I listened they are not up to mark. When coming to faculty members in LPU most of the faculty will be Ph.D. candidates they are good at teaching and very helpful for the students. Unlike government university's faculty's cannot skip the lectures in Lpu. At the end of the semester, faculty need to cover the skipped lectures too by conducting extra makeup classes. Research work is not upto mark in Lpu as lpu started Agriculture recently as B.Sc. Agriculture concerned it won't effect much. Placements - LPU is trying to get placements. Companies visited are Tata Rallis, NCDEX, dhanuka, smur Agro, pragya, Reliance etc. But don't come to LPU expecting placements not everyone will get placed this is the same scenario in government university also. But lpu trains you for placements by conducting placement classes. It will train your for Group discussions and personal interview and will focus on improving you communication skills and reducing your state fear which most government also doesn't not teach like Lpu. Lpu also conducts classes for the students who want to prepare for Masters from 3rd year onwards. In Lpu you can do internships, job from final year onwards unlike other government university. For government university you are not allowed from 4th year. You can do job/ internship from 4th year itself. Diversity will be more in Lpu you can make friends from almost all states and few countries too. When diversity is concerned no university in India can beat LPU. In future we are expecting lpu will get more placements due to more diversity which the company recruiters need. Lab and filed work is also good. There are student organisation in Agriculture also AGRINIANS and agros you can also join in it for developing your skills. LPU is just like the more REAP the more you get. Good luck !

Student of Lovely Professional University, Kavita Faman, a final year student of M.Sc. Agriculture (Agronomy), has bagged a package of Rs 1 crore. Scope of B.Sc. Hons. Agriculture is not limited to Domestic base rather its been accepted globally in different career aspects or profiles like Corporate job, Government Job, Teaching, Research etc. Salary is competitive enough as it is unique field. For B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture, There are ample of opportunities in this field both in Government and in Private sector. Getting a good job depends on various factors like from where you have done your Graduation, your skills, your knowledge about the field, the Industrial experience and exposure if you have any. B.Sc in Agriculture is a broad-based course with great potential. It deals with things like food production, horticulture, animal rearing, rural economy and rural development, environmental health, etc. Other industries may face downsizing but agriculture can never fall prey because food is the basic necessity for life.
