Is LPU a good choice for aerospace engineering?

Dear Anuj, LPU is a good choice for aerospace engineering. My friend did B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Aerospace is a niche area, the skills required in the industry are beyond the course curriculum of most of the universities. LPU has recognised this and developed the curriculum in consultation with the industry. It has even set up a center for space research with a mission control facility. LPU has set an ambitious goal of developing a satellite LPUSAT-1, which will be launched next year (2021) The Center will enable students and researchers to communicate with the International Space Station (ISS), download lives satellite images, and receive telemetry, Science/engineering data from nano-satellites and larger spacecraft The Center will act as a key facility in the field of space research for LPU as well as a virtual lab for Universities, Colleges and Schools in India and the neighboring countries of India A team of students, Visionauts, from Lovely Professional University have won the prestigious STEM Engagement Award in the 2019 NASA's Human Exploration Rover Challenge held at the US Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. This marks the third consecutive occasion of a team from LPU getting selected to participate in the prestigious competition. Interestingly, the team also got an opportunity to interact with Sunita Williams, a NASA astronaut, and two-time spaceflight veteran, who attended the second day of the event. Aerospace is a specialised branch of engineering which deals with the design and development of aircraft's as well as space crafts The course curriculum covers aspects of two branches of engineering - aeronautical and astronautical engineering. SCOPE OF AEROSPACE ENGINEERING :When the world is designing more cost-effective satellites and space shuttles, itll need expert brains to design such machines. As the world is moving towards commercialization of space shuttles and rockets, the demand for aerospace engineers is set to increase. With a number of private players entering into aerospace technology, the opportunities are getting better. Duties of Aerospace Engineers Aerospace engineers typically do the following: Direct and coordinate the design, manufacture, and testing of aircraft and aerospace products Assess proposals for projects to determine if they are technically and financially feasible Determine if proposed projects will result in safe operations that meet the defined goals Evaluate designs to SEE that the products meet engineering principles, customer requirements, and environmental regulations Develop acceptance criteria for design methods, quality standards, sustainment after delivery, and completion dates Ensure that projects meet quality standards Inspect malfunctioning or damaged products to identify sources of problems and possible solutions One of my best friends is doing Aerospace Engineering at LPU. Being an alumni I want to share my thoughts on this as my sister has done the same course from LPU itself. The course curriculum covers aspects of two branches of engineering - aeronautical and astronautically engineering. The course also focuses on new technologies in aviation, defence systems, and space exploration. It also includes aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, materials Science, structural analysis and manufacturing. PLACEMENTS: Companies like Every year more than 550 companies visit LPU for placement purposes. Companies like Ashok Leyland, Bosch, and Siemens Home Appliances, Volkswagon, Unominda, Voltas, Anglo-Eastern Ship Mgt. , Asahi India, Rockman (Hero group), Dharam Consulting, Samundra, Indo-MIM, Sandhar Technologies, JK Lakshmi Cement, Maruti, Lava, XL Dynamics, Asahi India, Cleanmax Solar, Elgi Equipments, VA tech Wabag, Thermax, Bristlecone, Tex Fasteners, GigaSolar, Westline Shipping, Raam Group, Nylocore Transmissions. First batch started in 2016 with class of 27 students, out of which 19 has registered for placements and 8 students decided to go for higher studies. Out of 19 students, 13 are placed (70% Placed) and still there are many placement drives to happen till the month of July to secure more than 100% Placement by offering dual offer letters to some students.
