Is LPU a good college for nutrition and dietetics?

Dear Anamika, Every year my students opt for different courses from different universities. Few of my students have been a part of LPU as well. Considering their further outcomes and learning I would suggest LPU has an edge over other universities and colleges. The major reason why I am more inclined towards LPU is that the university just not only focuses on the learning content but also develops the intent of choosing the course and prepares you for your survival in this competitive world. My intent in saying this is that after completion of this course, if you wish to be an individual Nutritionist and wish to start up your own, LPU develops all the managerial qualities in you, that you won't have to struggle or fight a lot. LPU offers B.Sc. In Nutrition and Dietetics which will help you in Constructing a strong basic foundation in concepts of nutrition and diet plan, thus crafting skillful and be a notion ready nutritional experts for addressing the health challenges. If you have an inborn interest in cooking and exploring various cuisines from different countries, nutrition and dietetics is one subject that will help you explore how to design controlled diets. Based on the body mass index, you can design your own food charts that would summarize the number of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins which must be consumed every day. For a career, initially, this may be a low-paying job. But once you have picked up and gained experience, there is a lot of scopes and you may earn quite well and travel abroad as a career, hotels, cruise lines, hospitals, nursing homes, and government health departments recruit nutrition and dietetics professionals for a good salary. If you join a shipping company such as Shell, Maersk, or their subsidiary companies that run tourist ships along with logistics and oil, etc. , you would get the opportunity to travel to several countries situated along the shorelines. Well, Yes, The vision LPU has regarding this course is making a strong fundamental establishment in concepts of nourishment and diet plan, hence make students skillful and their notion prepared as a good nutritional specialist for addressing to the health challenges. LPU focuses on this enhancement in their B.Sc. Students : Knowledge Enhancement: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles, and theories relating to the nutrition and dietetics of humans. Professional Enhancement: Understanding the value and processes of life-long learning and professional development. Entrepreneurship Skills: Understanding the processes of setting up and managing viable business ventures. Being an alumni I would like to share that LPU agriculture programme is outlined and conveyed with a target of wholesome development of students. Hi, Indeed Yes. The profession of dietetics contributes to the promotion of health and the prevention and treatment of illness by optimising the nutrition of populations, communities and individuals. Dietitians have a defined and recognisable body of knowledge and utilise scientific principles and methods in the study of nutrition and dietetics, applying these results to influence the wider environment affecting food intake and eating behaviour. The scope of dietetic practice is such that dietitians may work in a variety of settings and have a variety of work functions. The course involves a specialised study of all aspects of nutrients and food, starting with harvesting and consumption by means of cooking. It involves diet planning and patient counselling. The course is career oriented in nature. The career prospects include Dietician & Nutritionist. The course offered by different departments (theoretical and practical) is taught to the students on credit basis. Its Research Oriented. So far, the students are working in the companies like VLCC and Private hospitals like Tagore hospital, SGL hospital etc.

Yes, it is good. You can apply if you fulfill the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for the programme is subject to qualifying 12th with 60% with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Biotechnology or equivalent. Scholarships, placements, exposure to the industry, efficient and knowledgeable faculty, flexible curriculum and teaching pedagogies, infrastructure, and diverse culture and international exchange programs and internships makes LPU unmatchable. Many outer agencies have ranked LPU best in terms of placements, internships, etc. Around 800+ companies visit every year for campus-recruitment of students from LPU.
