As per my experience, LPU is Best OPTION. In Civil Engineering LPU emphasizes the evolution of manmade infrastructure as LPU understands how they have evolved to the present scenario. Yes, LPU is a good option for civil engineering, though, it is not that much well established when compared with the deemed institution but overall, it plays a big role in developing your personality as being a part of a big university. Also, you are likely to get more job offers from different branches other than your core. Go further, if the same may suit you. The biggest advantage you will have is this- , if you pursue B. Tech after Diploma, around 60% of core subjects will be covered by you. This means you will be among top students in your B. Tech class and will pass the degree with flying colors. After doing Diploma, you will save one year by enrolling in second year of B. Tech program and will complete your study in three years. Now, I will give you my opinion based on feedback received from students who are known to me and are currently studying Civil Engineering at LPU. Besides, few colleagues of mine who have previously worked in the same Department. So, following are the highlights of Civil Engineering in LPU: - 1. Most of the faculty staff is from reputed organizations with their highest degree from various reputed institutes such as IITs, NITs, etc. Apart from that, faculty has got previous industrial experience also. 2. The capstone project is an integral part of B. Tech program in which students have to pick a live project based on practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills. 3. There is an internship program which could be an opportunity for getting work experience and increase your chance to get employment after you pass out. But, of course, your academic record should be good to get this placement option. 4. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can see actual construction work going on. Be prepare to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). You have to ask questions yourself and trigger interest in the activities around you. 5. You will get some courses from soft skills, English language, mental and on analytical aptitude side. This sounds dull to you as of now. But you will feel its importance when you face an interview panel in a company during your placement drives. 6. They have very good placement records and good infrastructure companies visit their campus, L & T, Simplex Piles Ltd, Era Infrastructure, Gammon India Ltd to name a few. 7.
