LPU is not only good but the best choice for Civil Engineering which provides an ample number of opportunities for the students. Civil engineering is a programme that teaches us how to construct infrastructure and create an environment so in this a student must require practical knowledge. LPU gives you better facility, teaches you by performing practical. They provide you lab named, Unilab mechanical testing of building and development material. They also have a NABL-accredited lab for mechanical testing of building materials which makes LPU the only private university in India and the first university in Punjab to receive this certification. Now, if we talk about the placement of civil engineering students, LPU is good. You will get a chance to work on the Capstone project. Dear aspirant, Glad to meet you. LPU is the best place to pursue your higher education as it provides better opportunities to their students, let it be curricular or extracurricular activities. LPU believes that practical knowledge has more value rather than theoretical one so, it imparts practical exposure to the student through well-equipped designed labs with the experienced faculty and the lab assistants that make you excel in the study. Moreover, the syllabus is revised every semester as per the new inventions and technology, so that student can be prepared for getting placed in the future. However, professional enhancement programme classes are also designed in order to prepare a student before hand for the interviews which helps the students to get placements in the top leading companies. Dear Ritika Sarpal, Yes, LPU is a very good option for the civil engineering degree programme. I have many friend who have completed UG and PG programme in Civil Engineering from LPU and got placed in an MNC, The following are the highlights of Civil engineering in LPU: - 1. Most of the faculty staff are from reputed organizations with their the highest degree from various reputed institutes such as IITs, NITs, etc. Apart from that, faculty have got previous industrial experience also. 2. The capstone project is an integral part of B.Tech programme in which students have to pick a live project based on the practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills. 3. There is an internship programme which could be an opportunity for getting work experience and increase your chance to get employment after you pass out. But, of course, your academic record should be good to get this placement option. 4. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can SEE actual construction work going on. Be prepared to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). You have to ask questions yourself and trigger interest in the activities around you. 5. You will get some courses from soft skills, English language, mental and analytical aptitude side. This sounds dull to you as of now. But you will feel its importance when you face an interview panel in a company during your placement drives. 6. They have very good placement records and good infrastructure companies visit their campus, L & T, Simplex Piles Ltd, Era Infrastructure, Gammon India Ltd to name a few. 7. Career oriented Software training in project labs is given. To work in this profession, you are supposed to be familiar with software like MS-Project, STAAD Pro, MX Road, etc. None the less, you will be trained in Auto CAD in your second year which is prerequisite for any Civil Engineer. 8. Every theory course is complemented with relevant lab-based practical work. Some of the labs are based on field testing where experimental work is to be done, e. g. Soil Lab & Surveying Lab.
