As per law, universities don't require approval from AICTE to run its courses. It's the institutes which are affiliated to universities needs AICTE approval. As LPU is a Bonafide University established by a State Act, it does not require AICTE approval.

A UGC approved university doesn't need AICTE approval. The Supreme Court has ruled in the famous Bharathidasan University versus AICTE case that it is not obligatory for a university, created under an Act of a competent legislature, to seek and secure prior approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to start a department for imparting a course or programme in technical education or a technical institution as an adjunct to the university itself to conduct technical courses of its choice and selection. What it means is that the AI

Dear Aspirant LOVELY PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITY is recognised by UGC hence it doesn't need any approval from AICTE. Universities need approval for certain professional courses from the concerned Councils which regulate the courses in a certain discipline such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture, Distance Learning, etc. Wherever recognition by Statutory Bodies is required or mandatory, LPU has obtained such recognition/ approval.

Hi Sudipto, LPU is not AICTE approved because it does not need the approval. LPU is an independent UGC recognised university. AICTE approval is not required for a university to run a course in technical education as has been held by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in its judgment CWP2056 of 1999 titled Bharathidasan University & ANR. V/S ALL INDIA COUNCIL FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION & ORS, and various other cases. If any college is already approved by UGC, then approval from AICTE is not necessary.

AICTE approval is not obligatory for LPU because LPU is a UGC-approved university. As per the supreme court ruling, this approval is mandatory only for technical institutions. However, LPU is affiliated with the Distance Education Council. In addition to it, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and the Council of Architecture (COA) and approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). LPU was the first university to get approval from ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research). LPU has ACBSP accreditation as well as holds an affiliation with the Bar Cou

LPU is not approved by AICTE. To the best of my knowledge, a university doesn't need AICTE approval to run any technical programme if already recognised by UGC. Well, Lovely Professional University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), a statutory body of the Government of India for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in India, under section 2 (f) of the UGC ACT 1956. Lovely Professional University (LPU) is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which is the major regulatory agency for Indian universities. As a full-fledged university by a state legislature act, LPU is exempt from needing AICTE approval for its traditional on-campus degree courses—this is consistent with Supreme Court directives and national policy. Yet specific definite programs like MBA and MCA run in distance and online modes are AICTE-approved. For all other technical and professional courses, the UGC recognition of LPU validates and makes its degrees national as well as valid, and students are not at any loss i

Hi there,

Yes, LPU conducted LPUNEST entrance test for its various programmes. However, it depends upon in which stream you want to take admission. For many UG/PG programmes such as btech, B.Sc agriculture, law, management etc. test is mandatory for both admission and scholarship purpose. For some other courses such as computer application, BBA, hotel management, Bsc IT,   commerce,   arts etc. test is only for scholarship purpose .

I hope this helps,

Thank you.

Both Chandigarh University (CU) and Lovely Professional University (LPU) are known for engineering, but if we think of Electrical Engineering, LPU appears better in many ways. As a student, I personally feel that LPU has a very practical approach to learning. Their labs are state of the art, and well-resourced, and I find that the faculty usually support us to work on real-time projects, which build confidence to take on challenges in industry. The university brings many industry professionals for guest lecturers, and have affiliations with top companies in the world, so this gives students a greater opportunity for internships and pla

Seat allotment during the LPU NEST counselling effectively takes place based on your merit (exam) rank, as well as the preferences you fill to course/specialisations while you log in to the portal for admissions after your results are out. After you log in to the counselling portal after the results go out, you need to honestly fill your choices of course/specialization. LPU will then look for which rank you are in the merit list, check availabilities, and allocate seats accordingly based on your previously chosen course/specialization seats and rank. The seat allotment process of counseling purely works on merit, so the students who s
