Is LPU good for B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture?

Being an alumni of LPU I would rather say that the school of Agriculture in Lovely Professional University is among the best place for pursuing the B.Sc. In agriculture. Now you would be saying why I am saying like that, actually my cousin has completed his degree from here only. The most significant thing which should be emphasized is that LPU is the first private university which has been approved by ICAR. I along with my cousins had visited the fields, labs. In order to infuse understanding on emerging problems and technologies involved in agriculture field visits are conducted to neighbouring farms, orchards and nurseries. Not only subject related education is imparted but also the professional enhancement is added by the university through the different courses like soft skills and communication skills. Major Highlights of the programme that I would be highlighting over here are as follows: a)The course would impart knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts and techniques of maintaining and enhancing soil fertility, crop production, crop management, crop improvement, biodiversity and sustainability of agriculture worldwide. B)The course would develop the ability to know farming practices and their scope to improve in the rural areas and the environments. C)It would help in applying the knowledge of basic Science through Agricultural microbiology, Plant biochemistry and Biotechnology. Hello Sameeksha, I have spent 4 years in lpu for my studies and I have seen that the agriculture department is one of the finest departments. Well-equipped and well grown from the last couple of years. Moreover, LPU is the first private university got ICAR approval. LPU holds a stellar record in placements as big brands like VLCC Healthcare Ltd. , Ankur Seeds, HDFC, Dhanuka Agritech Ltd. , Ebro India Pvt. Ltd. , etc. Have visited for campus recruitment at packages upto 4.5 LPA. In addition to this, students can attain positions as Agriculture Inspectors, Agriculture Officers, POs, Food Quality Inspectors, Agriculture Development Officer, Horticulture Development Officer, Technical Assistants and administrative posts in government and non-government organizations. Over and above, I also came to know that recently, LPU has been ranked in top 80 amongst all private and government institutes by NIRF, MHRD, GOI which shows the quality being delivered at the institute. School of Agriculture offers programs with up-to -date curriculum designed to suit the aspirations of agricultural industries as well as major research and development sectors. The laboratories of the School are world class. The dedicated faculty gives the students a hands -on training experience by assigning live projects (Agricultural work) in university agricultural research farms and experiential learning on different agricultural units. It includes disciplines like Agronomy, Horticulture Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Economics, Extension, etc. The major emphasis of the programme is to get the students acquainted with knowledge and hands-on experiences in the above mentioned discipline and apply that knowledge to high value agricultural production in a sustainable manner. The minimum age required for enrolling in the programme is 16yrs. Merit in qualifying examination LPU NEST subject to eligibility criteria. Students may be given an option to go for a 4 weeks study tour to USA/ European countries or any other country as decided by the University subject to conditions. There is also an option to join a partner university abroad for a semester. Students are engaged towards evergreen agriculture, keeping in view the RAWE programme to build interpersonal skills. One of my cousin is currently doing B.Sc. (hons) Agriculture in LPU and he told me that the cutoff for honours programs are sightly higher then the rest of the courses. The cutoff is more than 40% as compared to 30% for the other programs. Moreover, this cutoff keeps on changing every year LPU is the only private university that has ICAR approval. Agriculture is a growing sector in the present times and emerging as a field of opportunities. Agriculture is the right career option for the future of development. Being a student of LPU I can assure you that LPU is the best option for agriculture, as The school of agriculture is recognised by ICAR ( Indian Council Of Agricultural Research). Plus LPU is always in news regarding their achievement in agriculture courses like recently there was amazing news that Flying Farmer drone LPUs Novel Invention featured in Forbes India!, which I think is a very big achievement. Moreover, students are taken to Commercial farms for getting familiar with the practicality of industry and field to polish their skills. Well, I have used to wander on campus and I have seen well-equipped laboratories for agriculture students, and excellent farm facilities to conduct agricultural experiments. Scholars learn about the latest updates in the field of agriculture, disease resistance, fertilizers with extensive fieldwork and field trips. Basically, all this prepares them for their industry LPU even offers the opportunity for the Rural Agriculture Work Experience (RAWE) programme for developing a real-time understanding of conventional agriculture methods and effective dissemination of knowledge to the farmers. ILPU also gives a basic understanding of emerging problems and technologies involved in agriculture, in-demand field visits are an important part of their curriculum. I guess LPU is a university that believes in more practical learning. Because they do the same in my course also. Their curriculum is designed in such a way that they have subjects like communication and soft skills to polish the personality and employability of students. LPU prepares its students from A to Z for placement. So that students give their best in the placement drive. Other than all these things, fees are less compared to other private colleges or universities. And the exposure, events seminars, and special guest lectures which students get are cherries on top. Infrastructure campus life and diversity in LPU have cant be compared with any other university. Placements - LPU's agriculture student has bagged a Package of 1 CRORE. LPU students got top packages from leading Agriculture companies.
