    Yes, Madras University is approved by UGC. UNOM was established in 1857. University of Madras is acrredited with an A++ grade by NAAC. Madras University is ranked 50 and 65 under the ‘University’ and ‘Overall’, respectively, by the NIRF 2023. Madras University offers more than 230 courses under 87 academic departments of PG teaching and research grouped under 18 schools, covering diverse areas such as Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Management, and Medicine.
