    no. mathematics is not compulsory. although you need to have mathematics in the +2 level in order to satisfy the initial screening. apart from that in future you dont need it.

    It's possible to opt for genetics engineering course without having maths in class 12th. You should have Physics, Chemistry, And Biology with decent marks to get enrolled for UG course in genetic engineering.
    The Maths Involved here would be Statistics and basic calculus. If you were to take an engineering for UG, then you have to must know the basic maths upto 10th and 12th level.
    So, no need to worry about the strong background of maths, just know the basic things, That is it.
