    According to the eligibility criteria, it isn't necessary but a student from a non-maths background is at a significant disadvantage. IISER-K does not have a reliable system to conduct bridge courses for the affected students. Remedial classes are held sporadically and are not of much help as they're conducted at odd hours. As a result, the maths courses, while doable in the first year, prove to be a significant obstacle. In addition, the physics courses also use a fair bit of calculus that students with a pre-med background are not accustomed to.
