Is MBBS/Medical an overhyped career option?

<p>Not really, job vacancies after MBBS is way more than applicants. But at the end of the day, you should do what you want not what pays more</p>

In India most parents want their child to become a doctor or an engineer Because these days there are a lot of engineers who are jobless so MBBS has gained them first place in terms of an ideal career option So getting an MBBS degree from any college opens up the GATE of opportunities as believed by student community as well as their parents Yes the decision to pursue medicine is not something to be taken lightly as it is a long tough path not only with a huge financial cost but also compromises to opportunity cost work life balance and so on Also it is overhyped in a way for the simple reason that the expectations and popular stereotypes of doctors are not all that accurate The glamour of calling yourself a doctor sometimes leads to a large number of students entering the field for the wrong reasons You get the respect and status. You get job security and good salary.

Yes, because even though MBBS doctor is a Bachelor of medicine and surgery but he/she is just reduced to primary care physician. It can be said to be overhyped because many people pursue medicine for the wrong reasons. No, because this is the only profession with a 100% placement guarantee and it is the only profession where there is always vacancy in the medical sector with job security. And also becoming a doctor can be a tremendously rewarding and gratifying experience by serving people. Basically, being a doctor is overhyped because of the inaccuracies in public perception of what it means to have MBBS as a career, not because it is not a good profession. But it is time now that people should realize that there are also many other career options that have a scope.

I don't think it as an overhyped career option. As this profession really needs a lot of hardwork, patience and time. The entire journey of MBBS is not easy as the students have not only have exams pressure they also have the pressure of passing every viva exam. Doctors play a important role in society as every individual is dependent on them for their treatment and cure.

There is a lot of career options available so it is on you to choose the right one wish you want to do so it is not an over hypot career option if you want to take this career option then you fasting that can you handle the pressure of the course then you can take it otherwise there will be a lot of options available so you can't think that there is one and only MBBS is a degree by which you will get is secure job.

No MBBS/medical is not an overhyped career option, as we all SEE during corona period who helped us, doctors or the students who are in there final year of UG amd and in there internship period. This is the industry which will always grows.

In my opinion, which may be overhyped in the last few years, due to some politics and salary the people attracted to these medical courses. Actually, a medical degree is a life-saving service and not a job, but currently, people and governments are doing business with medical degrees and jobs. I am not pointing out this particular degree, most courses are overhyped due to working positions and their salary, however, people are working the same working hours with the necessary knowledge. People need to understand what's going on in the toxic community and culture, people are thinking a medical degree is very higher like communities with High caste and other jobs in engineering, law, arts and Science, commerce, and sociology, they were downgraded from one from others. So, in my opinion, MBBS is just a life-saving service job, if they getting high money for treatment, they doing business only. Just think about it. Peoples only needs money so they created this toxic environment. All courses and Jobs are equal.

Yes, the field of medicine is overrated since even after earning your MBBS you must pursue a postgraduate degree or even a superspeciality to gain the knowledge and abilities necessary to treat patients on a secondary or tertiary level. You will only be limited to working in primary settings with a lower salary of typically between $30k and $60k after earning your MBBS.

Yes it is an overhyped profession because even after completing MBBS you have to go for post graduation or even super speciality to acquire the skills needed to treated patient on a secondary or a tertiary level. By completing MBBS you will be only reduced to work in primary settings with a less pay ranging from Rs.30,000 to Rs. 60,000 normally.

In a country like India, being a doctor is directly linked with being successful and at the top of your game. It is a known fact that when an individual decides to chase the "Dr. " title they are looking forward to 5-7 years of immense hard work, struggle, and seeking an ocean full of knowledge. MBBS is a degree that tests not only the knowledge of the candidate but also their patience and time management skills. Back in the days, people chased the degree because of the prestigious status it had but as time changed, people started focusing on the "money" aspect of becoming a doctor. In recent times the MBBS degree might seem like an overhyped degree because of all the traffic it drives, but it is because of the traffic it has the selection crtitria gets enhanced and the competition shoots up. Despite all the stigma around the course it is a relative thing. For some being a dcotor would just be another source of income but for some it is a dream, something they wanted their entire life.

From my side, it is not overhyped but some people using it only for there greediness. In order to become a doctor you need hard work, commitment, empathy, ethics and values. It's true, many of the Indian parents some how want their children to become doctors. Maybe they are fascinated by the popularity and position of this profession. Getting into the right college, rolemodelling and mentoring of the seniors and teachers, having commitment to the society and the people. All these are important.
