Is mechatronics a separate engineering branch? Is it possible to opt for other branch and then switch mechatronics?

Mechatronics is a combination of mechanical and electronics used in the field of robotics. It is a different specialization and normally students opt for this course when pursuing M.Tech. Yes, you can take mechatronics after B.Tech in mechanical or related field. It is a specialized branch.
