Yes, i consider mechatronic is better than ECE. Its a new branch and in trends. ECE full of students and having limited job options.
For good institutes for mechatronics check admission in Thapar Institute, Lovely Professional University, nirma.

You cannot compare between the two branch in terms of which is better. It depends on your type of interest.
For mechatronics, it is a combination of mechanical, electrical and electronics. It is a new branch in India and only five colleges in India offer it. However, it is in demand in abroad. At p

Mechatronics is relatively new trend, is demanded abroad in automotive sector and in some private sector industries but sometimes your state PSC may not have even thought of recognising the courses. Please check with relevant courses, though the stream is not bad.

It depends upon your interest.
Mechatronics is combination of mechanical and electronics. It deals with robotics.
Mechatronics has a wide scope outside India. Job availability in India is although low.
