Is MS and M.Sc. Are same?

I just completed my engineering and thought of doing MS online. But when I started searching about this in internet I became very confused because, most the universities offers the degree as M.Sc. And not MS.

    Hello Dhanya, in one sense MS or M.Sc. Are similar in that both are postgraduate courses. But then there are differences as well. M.Sc. Is a degree which is granted for postgraduate studies in a Science subject and eligibility would be normally B.Sc. In that subject. On the other hand M.Tech or ME are the two degrees which an engineering graduate seeks out after completion of his graduation since for both of these post graduate degrees graduation in engineering is an eligibility. However majority of the institutions abroad have programs cal MS which is an umbrella programme for post graduation which any graduate student can apply for.
