Is my decision right? I have planned to do geology Hons then I would prepare for GATE for CIL.

    Yes it is good. Now focus on you BSc and try to qualify GATE.You also get admission in IITs on the basis of GATE in m.tech or m.sc. It is a good idea. All the best.
