The university selects candidates based on entrance exam or merit-based as per the course requirements. NFSU offers a plethora of courses, including MA, MSc, MTech, MBA and BTech. For BTech course, admission aspirants must have a valid JEE Main score. Similarly, for courses like BBA LLB, LLM, etc., students are selected based on CLAT score + merit.

The level of difficulty in NFSU's internal entrance test varies with the course. For technical courses such as BTech and MTech, it checks higher subject knowledge and logical reasoning. Aspirants for MBA endure aptitude tests like CAT. With proper preparation, it can be handled.

The NFSU Gandhinagar BSc course is provided with only one specialisation. This specialisation is Criminology and Forensic Science. Moreover, it runs for three years. For students who wish to pursue a PG Integrated course, the university also has a BSc + MSc in Forensic Science.
