  • No, the NID cutoff is released only for the DAT Mains exam, not for the DAT Prelims exam.

    • The DAT Prelims exam acts as a screening test to shortlist candidates for the DAT Mains exam. It doesn't have a specific cutoff score.
      • NID aims to shortlist at least 3 times the number of available seats per category for the DAT Mains exam.
    • The NID releases a category-wise cutoff for the DAT Mains exam. This cutoff is based on the rank and score of the last candidate admitted into a particular B.Des programme or category in the previous year (around June-July).

At the time of seat allocation and approximately in July 2024, the National Institute of Design (NID) will make public the NID DAT 2023 cut-off for the M.Des program. The rank and score of the last applicant accepted into the M.Des programme would serve as the primary cut-off. At roughly the same time (July), the B.Des program's NID DAT 2024 cut-off will be made available separately. The number of applications, seat intake, and categorization are among the elements taken into account when determining the cut-off. Applicants will be admitted to DAT and NID if they meet the requirements for their category in the programme of their choice

  • The National Institute of Design (NID) will release a qualifying cut-off for DAT Prelims.

As the word "qualifying" indicates, the DAT Prelims cut-off will only be used to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains. However, the DAT Prelims cut-off will not be used for admission purposes.

Meanwhile, the DAT Mains cut-off will be used for admission purposes. So, to get admission to the design course you have applied, you need to meet the DAT Mains cut-off in your given category.
