    NIT Agartala is a government college. It is established in 1965. It is ranked 91 according to NIRF ranking 2023. It offers several Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Certificate programmes in various courses such as MBA,  BTECH, B.Sc, etc.  The admission to the college are solely based om the entrance examination. The entrance exam accepted by tge college are JEE, GATE, CAT, MAT, etc.The college offers high placement opportunities to the students. The placement rate of the college is 95.30%.     On April 1, 2006, the Tripura Engineering College was renamed the National Institute of Technology Agartala by the Indian government. The Parliament-passed NIT Act grants the institute autonomy. NIRF 2023 placed NIT Agartala 91st in the engineering category. Established to provide high-quality technical education at many higher levels, the National Institute of Technology, Agartala is a centrally supported institution. The goal of the institute is to improve the efficiency of technical education, develop novel systems, and provide a framework that would make it easier for research discoveries to be applied to industry challenges.

    National Institute of Technology, Agartala is autonomous under NIT being an act passed by the Parliament. the institute has also been ranked 80 in the 'Engineering" category by NIRF 2022. Moreover, the institute has 10+ departments, 200+ faculty, 30+ programmes, and 3,500+ students. Additionally, NIT Agartala has also signed more than 30 MoUs with various colleges.
