<p>NIT Agartala was founded as the Tripura Engineering College in 1965 and later renamed the National Institute of Technology by the Government of India in 2006. The institution is ranked 91st in the NIRF 2023 Engineering Rankings. NIT Agartala's BTech programme lasts four years and offers seven different courses. This programme is entirely entrance-based. The National Institute of Technology Agartala admits students to the BTech programme based on their JEE Main scores, followed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. The degree is available in a variety of specialisations, including computer Science engineering, electrical engineering, and production engineering. BTech students chosen through JoSAA will receive information from NIT Agartala.</p>

<p><span lang="EN-GB">During the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2022, the National Institute of Technology Agartala was ranked 80 in the Engineering category. Talking about the placement of NIT Agartala, the institute has not released the placement statistics for the batch of 2022. However, the NIRF report 2023 was released recently. As per the NIRF report 2023, a total of 619 students got placement offers.</span></p>
