Is PG Diploma done from Canada equivalent to MA?

Lets clear the confusion first. PGDM in India is considered to be an MBA-equivalent program. The difference being that Indian institutions that are autonomous offer PGDM (as they are not allowed to offer degrees), and those that are affiliated to a university offer an MBA. In terms of course content, the PGDM and MBA are similar, though the PGDM courses are sometimes considered better because they are more adapted to industry needs. In Canada, a PGDM and an MBA are quite different. The former is just a diploma program, while the latter is a full-fledged degree. The PGDM will tend to cover only a specific area of management (e.g. Supply Chain Management), while the MBA, being a more comprehensive program, will cover the entire spectrum. There will therefore be, in general (exceptions may be there), slower career progress through a PGDM in Canada than through an MBA. Job opportunities may be lesser too. In terms of the value of a Canadian PGDM in India, it will be low compared to Canadian MBA programs, Indian MBA programs, and Indian PGDM programs.
