To provide equal education opportunities to students, Pondicherry University and many other government and non-government universities increase and decrease the seat intake. Pondicherry University is ranked one of the top public universities with a rank of 1201 - 1400 by the QS World University Rankings 2024. The university ranked 101-150 in the 'University' category by the NIRF 2023 Rankings. Hence, the increase or decrease in seats has not much impacted the quality of education the university offers.
