<p>Founded in 1983 in Amravati, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati institution (SGBAU), formerly known as Amravati University, is a state-level institution. It is an Association of Indian Universities member and has been recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) (AIU). The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has granted it re-accreditation with a "A" grade. The university provides programs in science, commerce, technology and engineering, law, business administration, library science, and other fields at the undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, certificate, and Diploma levels. The Department of Applied Electronics, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Commerce, Department of English, Department of Law, Department of Computer Science, and more are among the more than 25 departments that make up the university. It has connections to over a hundred universities.&nbsp;</p>
