    SDMCET, Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Engineering and Technology is one such private engineering college. It was established in the year 1979 by the SDME Society. Since it was from its inception as an autonomous, self-financing institution. Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technical University, this college is also recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
    As a private technical institution, SDMCET also offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs such as B.E. / B.Tech, MBA, and has been consistently ranked to be among the top private engineering colleges in India
